Short Note on Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan for Airforce Phase2 Group Discussion

Lockdown has been very successful in limiting the spread of COVID - 19, but on the other side, it has halted all the economic activities in the country. Every sector of the economy is facing a difficult time, as a result, a huge population of the country gets unemployed. To ease out this situation and prepare the country for tough competition in the global supply chain, the Prime Minister has announced the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan (or Self-reliant India Mission)’ with an economic stimulus package, worth Rs 20 lakh crores aimed towards achieving the mission.

Key Points of the Mission

  • This package is equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP.
  • The amount of this Atamnirbhar Bharat Abhiyan includes other packages already announced at the starting of the lockdown incorporating measures from the Reserve Bank of India and the payouts under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.
  • The focus of the package will mainly be on land, labour, liquidity and laws.

Aim of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan

  • It aims towards significantly reducing import dependence by focusing on substitution while improving safety compliance and quality goods to gain global market share.
  • The Self-Reliance neither signifies any exclusionary or isolationist strategies but involves the creation of a helping hand to the whole world.
  • The Mission put more focus on promoting “local” products.
  • The Mission is also expected to complement ‘Make In India Initiative’ which intends to encourage manufacturing in India.

The Mission will be carried out in phases. The initial phase will consider sectors like Electronics, Medical, Textiles, Toys where local manufacturing and exports can be promoted. After that focus will be on products like pharma and steel, gems and jewellery, etc.

  2. The system- based on 21st-century technology-driven arrangements
  3. Infrastructure- which should become the identity of India
  4. Vibrant Demography- It is our source of energy for a self-reliant India
  5. Demand- whereby the strength of our demand and supply chain should be utilized to full capacity

Conclusion

As we are aware of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has origin from China, many industries are moving out of China in search of a new destination for their investment and this package from the government of India will prepare the country for tough competition in the global supply chain. It will not only increase efficiency in various sectors but also ensure the quality of manufactured goods.

Similarly, our body is made up of similar structures called   cells,   which assemble to form our body. Hence, cells are the structural units of our body. But who discovered and coined the term ‘cells’?  Let us explore. The discovery of cells was first made by Robert Hooke.
