Take up one idea...Make that one idea your life. Think of it,dream of it,live on that idea. Let the brain, muscels, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success - Swami Vivekananda
- Work hard. Stay dedicated, determined and disciplined. Take risks. Never give up.
To be successful, you really have to put in all your efforts with absolutely no guarantee of getting the result you want. Absolute grit is required to compete on this level. Also, being aware that there is a risk factor involved and that all your efforts might go in vain is important. However, this shouldn’t stop you from putting in the effort . On the contrary, this should motivate you to put even more effort. Only then you’ll know what you can achieve. The idea is to prepare for the worst.
Don’t be scared to take the next step. Believe in yourself and take a leap of faith. You may fail, but you won’t have to live with the regret that you never even tried. Anything is possible, you’ve just got to give it your all. Everyone has the potential to be great. But not everyone has the courage to do so.
- Time management is necessary. Don’t procrastinate.
Earlier, a cliché commonly employed was “Slow and steady wins the race.” But now, it’s “fast and consistent is the required pace”. If you have an idea, start working on it because other people might have already started.
It is not necessary to solve every problem in the question paper you lay your eyes on. Sometimes, it’s better to move on to the next one lest you shall lose time and miss out a whole bunch of opportunities present out there. After all, it’s not about how much you have solved, it’s about how well you have solved. Or rather, lived!
- It is OKAY to fail. Learn from the mistakes.
Everyone has failed at one time or another. Failure is a great life teacher. It teaches us humility and teaches how to correct our course of action. Every time you fail, your probability of success the next time you try, increases. Every problem has a solution. If you can’t find one, you need to change your or look at it in a different angle. Also remember, it takes a wise man to learn from his mistakes, but an even wiser man to learn from others.
- Take suggestions but do what you feel is right. Believe in yourself.
Nothing can be achieved alone. You need a mentor to guide you time and again. But don’t be totally dependent upon them. There is an expiry date for blaming your mentor for steering you in the wrong direction. Be proactive and ownup to your decision. You have to believe in yourself. Neither be overconfident nor be under confident. Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.
- Love yourself. Do things for yourself.
‘Expectations’ is another word for ‘pressure’. Parents, peers and relatives – they all expect so much from you which puts you under tremendous pressure. But contemplate the image of your actions in the mirror. Is it really that important? You have to succeed but not for your family or relatives or neighbour.
Engineering is not everyone’s cup of tea. But the pressure compels some to take it and eventually parents realize the truth the hard way when the child doesn’t succeed. Being in a rat race is the worst thing you can do to yourself because even if you win the race, you are still a rat.
After a point, it becomes your responsibility to take as much as you possibly can from the education that you are being provided. The onus to educate yourself lies purely upon your shoulders. I believe the point of the education system is to teach you how to learn. Majority of the facts and knowledge you leave your school with will have no real significance in your Life. But the journey of how you learnt these things will quite possibly be the single most important thing in your life.
